U.S. Veterans

By Matt Erickson

I am a veteran of the U.S. Navy, my father was a veteran of the Korean War U.S. Army, his father was a WW1 U.S. Army veteran.

Each year at Veteran's day, I wonder, how do we express our thanks for their sacrifice, here are my thoughts.

Nearly all these "Vets" want nothing more than a simple "thank you", and for the citizens of this nation to use the rights they have fought, bleed, & died for.

It was said by one of the founding fathers of this country, "From time to time, the tree of liberty must be replenished with blood, the blood of young men."

To those of you reading this that are not veterans, it is your duty to live your life and uses the rights that "we" have paid for. In some places on earth, people risk their lives just to vote, "we" have risked "our" lives for you.

If you see one of us on the street, or you stand at an ancient battlefield, cemetary, or war memorial, you need only say this: "Thank you, for your service to my country."

As living vets grow old, sick, and pass from this world, give them care and comfort, it's the least you can do, for "they" gave so much...

For those who came before me, and for those who will come after, "Thank you for your service to my country."
